Juco OG King will sign with WKU

12/27/2012

Western Kentucky will add another junior college prospect to its 2013 recruiting class, as offensive guard Brandon King (San Pablo, Calif./Contra Costa College) committed to head coach Bobby Petrino and will sign with the Hilltoppers next week.

King originally committed to Marshall last year, but said Western Kentucky is the right call this time around.

"I felt like Western Kentucky is the best fit for me coming out of junior college," King said. "I've been on a visit there before and I know Coach Petrino from his time at Arkansas."

The 6-foot-5, 310-pound guard is well-traveled. He attended Stockbridge (Ga.) High School before spending one year each at Oak Ridge (N.C.) Military Academy, Thatcher (Ariz.) Eastern Arizona College and San Pablo (Calif.) Contra Costa College. He said another selling point for Western Kentucky is its proximity to home.

King will have three years to play two, but he is hoping that the redshirt year won't be necessary.

"I have three years, but I'm going to come in and try to play right away," King said. "They plan to bring me in to play offensive guard. I'd rather play left guard because that's where I've been playing. I can play defense too, but my thing going to the next level will be on the offensive line."

The 2012 All-Conference performer will be the fifth junior college prospect to sign with Western Kentucky as a mid-year recruit. He is the 20th commitment for the Hilltoppers.
