Boise State added another dynamic athlete to its 2013 recruiting class, as Thomas Sperbeck (Carmichael, Calif./Jesuit) pledged to the Broncos. The 6-foot, 167-pound Sperbeck picked up an offer from Boise State during an official visit this past weekend and didn't need to wait long after returning home to make a decision.
"I enjoyed the visit and really like the coaching staff," Sperbeck said. "It just felt like the right place for me."
Capable of playing multiple positions at the next level -- Sperbeck was recruited by programs as a quarterback, athlete, wide receiver and safety -- he will begin his career at Boise State at free safety.
As a senior, Sperbeck threw for 1,049 yards and 13 touchdowns, rushed for 932 yards and nine scores, caught four passes for 66 yards, recorded 69 tackles and a sack, returned a fumble 85 yards for a score and returned a punt 88 yards for a score.
He took official visits to Colorado State and San Jose State in the weeks before his Boise State visit, and Sperbeck also holds an offer from Army. He gives Boise State 19 verbal commitments in the 2013 recruiting class, including 10 from California.
