Cornerback Billy Vaughn Jr. (Los Angeles/Dorsey) committed to San Diego State in late summer after an unofficial visit to the campus. This past weekend, an official visit to see the Aztecs might have locked Vaughn into that decision.
"I had a great time," Vaughn said. "It pulled me even closer to them. I loved everything about it. I met the players before when I was down there, but this was the first time I got to hang out with them. They were the coolest dudes. We hung out, went to dinner, saw the facilities with them. I was really happy to see them and see how I'd fit in there."
Though it will take something special to pull Vaughn away from his commitment, the 5-foot-11, 154-pound cornerback will continue through the recruiting process and has a full January scheduled. He will take official visits to TCU (Jan. 4), Hawaii (Jan. 11), Boise State (Jan. 18) and Nevada (Jan. 25). The Horned Frogs and Broncos have yet to offer, but continue to show interest.
"I still want to take my trips and see my options," Vaughn said. "But I'm definitely leaning toward SDSU. Mostly it's about where I fit in the best. I also want to major in either architecture or criminal justice, so those will be things I'm looking for as well."
