It wasn't a complete shock that cornerback Daquawn Brown (Los Angeles/Dorsey) made a verbal commitment on Monday. But, coming off an official visit to Washington this past weekend, it was something of a surprise that Brown made his commitment to the rival Washington State Cougars.
"I kind of already knew after I took the Washington State visit--I knew I wanted to go there in my own mind," Brown said of an official visit to the Cougars in early November. "But I wanted to make sure I was handling the whole process right and taking my trips. I took trips to the places I considered highly and I had a great time [at Washington], but just didn't get the feeling that I had at Washington State."
Washington State had a bit of luck on its side in getting the commitment on Monday. As Brown returned home from his official visit Monday afternoon and was speaking with his dad about his desire to commit to Washington State, Cougars assistant coach Paul Volero pulled up to Brown's house for an unscheduled in-home visit.
