Now that he has taken all four of the official visits he wanted to, three-star defensive tackle Hunter Knighton (Princeton, N.J./Hun School) has a pretty good idea where he is going to commit to.
“Boise State or Miami,” Knighton said.
The Hurricanes hosted Knighton for an official visit this past weekend, and Knighton said the trip went very well. He visited during the summer for a camp but said he did not see or do much while there other than compete for a scholarship offer.
Knighton talked with several players about Miami, including freshman Jake O’Donnell, who hosted Knighton. O’Donnell is from just outside Philadelphia, which is just across the river from Princeton. The two talked about the transition to Miami, and O’Donnell assured Knighton it is a decision he does not regret.
Ultimately, Knighton’s decision will come down to the coaches at each program.
“Boise State is such a unique place. I loved it, and Coach Chris Petersen was great and is one of the best coaches in the country,” he said. “I think I fit in well there.
“Coach Al Golden is in the same category as Coach Petersen. He’s well respected, and Miami academically is a great school.”
Knighton expects a decision sometime this week, perhaps coming as early as Tuesday.
Boston College, Purdue and West Virginia were in Knighton's top five, but have since been eliminated.
