Interest up for Dominique Fenstermacher

11/25/2012

Junior cornerback Dominique Fenstermacher (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos De Niza) has a chance to be one of the more highly recruited defensive prospects in the state for the 2014 recruiting class. The 5-foot-9, 157-pound playmaker already holds an offer from Arizona, and was in attendance at the Wildcats' game against rival Arizona State on Friday night.

"The atmosphere was amazing," Fenstermacher said. "The trip was pretty cool."

Fenstermacher took the unofficial visit along with high school teammate and Arizona verbal commitment Mauriece Lee. He has been to several Wildcats' game this season and is developing a strong relationship with the Arizona coaches and program. Fenstermacher said after this game he was able to speak with head coach Rich Rodriguez as well as assistant head coach Tony Gibson.

But he and Lee weren't alone on Friday. Fenstermacher said he spent time with fellow recruits, such as Arizona verbal commitment Nate Phillips (Chandler, Ariz./Basha), 2014 Watch List receiver Cameron Denson (Tucson, Ariz./Salpointe Catholic), 2014 tight end Trevor Wood (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral), and Jordin Hamilton (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral).

While Arizona has already entered the race for Fenstermacher, two programs could be close. He took an unofficial visit to UCLA two weeks ago and interest from the Bruins has picked up since then. TCU cold get into the mix as well, as the Horned Frogs contacted Fenstermacher's head coach in order to begin the recruiting process.

"Most schools are waiting for my highlight tape right now," Fenstermacher said. "It's supposed to be done soon -- within the next week for sure. UCLA said to send them the video as soon as it's done."
