This past weekend started out pretty well for Dax Raymond (Provo, Utah/Timpview), as the 6-foot-5, 204-pound athlete hauled in nine receptions for 167 yards and four touchdowns in a first-round playoff victory. It ended even better, as Raymond received a phone call from Utah State recruiting coordinator Zach Nyborg. The Aggies' coach extended the first scholarship offer to Raymond, but it meant even more to the standout senior considering who it came from.
"He was my coach when I was a freshman at Timpview," Raymond said of Nyborg. "He wanted to say that had nothing to do with making the decision. It was because of my film and a decision by everyone. But he wanted to make the call because we have a special relationship."
The scholarship offer came as a tight end, a position where all of Raymond's potential suitors -- Boise State, BYU, Harvard, SMU, Utah and Yale -- envision him playing. A wide receiver now, Raymond doesn't see the position switch as an obstacle.
