2014 WR Jeff Farrar is on the radar

10/9/2012

Wide receiver Jeff Farrar transferred to Upland (Calif.) this offseason and it hasn't taken long for the 6-foot-1, 195-pound athlete to make an impact. And as a result, it hasn't taken long for college coaches to begin recruiting Farrar in earnest.

The junior already holds a scholarship offer from UCLA, but he said after Friday's game that schools from the ACC, Pac-12 and SEC have shown increased interest.

"Since September 1st, recruiting has been crazy," Farrar said. "Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Florida State, Alabama and a lot of schools have reached out."

Farrar said he isn't sure why so many schools on the opposite side of the country have contacted him, but he is pleased with the development.

"I don't know if they heard about me from the combines or what, but a lot of those schools have come in and have me in their sights," Farrar said.

Blessed with tremendous speed and athleticism, Farrar has been asked to pitch in on offense and defense this season. During Friday's important victory over rival Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.), Farrar started at cornerback and helped shut down the Cougars' passing game.

"Wide receiver is definitely in the picture, but right now the team needs me at cornerback and I'm just trying to help out any way I can," he said, adding that every school is recruiting him as an athlete at this point.

Upland is off to a 6-0 start this season and Farrar has been a big part of the Scots' success.

"It's going great; I love this team," Farrar said. "They welcomed me really well here, and to come out and help the team get a big win like this is a big deal for me."
