Before he makes a decision, Khalfani Muhammad wants to make sure he “feels the vibe” at the schools he is considering.
The 5-foot-8, 174-pound running back (Sherman Oaks, Calif./Notre Dame) has heard plenty from the coaches who are recruiting him, but now it is time to take a closer look.
The senior will visit Notre Dame this weekend for the Irish’s game against Michigan. He also plans to be in Seattle for Washington’s game against USC Oct. 13. He is planning a trip to Arkansas, but hasn’t set a date yet.
“You hear a lot about (the game experience), it’s just about witnessing it with your own eyes,” Muhammad said. “That’s really what I’m going to do, go out there and just get a feel for it for myself.”
Once he experiences the visits he plans to take his time before making a decision.
“I’m just going to take it slow and wait till signing day,” Muhammad said. “I’ve got a few months before that comes, so I’m just going to take it real slow, really make the right decision.”
Muhammad got his first look at Washington back in February. He was in Seattle for a track meet and took an unofficial to the university.
“I love the coaching staff,” Muhammad said. “I love the school. It’s a good school academically and athletically. It’s a beautiful city, a really nice city. I really enjoyed it a lot. I had a good time while I was out there for a few days.”
Muhammad’s senior season has gotten off to a slow start while dealing with a rib injury, but he expects to be ready to go for the Knights’ game against Santa Clarita (Calif.) Golden Valley Friday.
“Next week I’ll be ready to go full action,” Muhammad said.
