Four-star Falah set to announce

7/10/2012

The football room at St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, Calif. figures to draw quite the crowd Wednesday evening for four-star offensive tackle Nico Falah's highly anticipated college announcement.

After Bosco's four-hour summer practice, the 6-foot-4, 275-pound lineman will clean up, make his way to the ceremony and officially commit. He'll utter either three letters or four -- USC or UCLA.

"I'm staying close to home. That's the only hint," Falah said.

Falah, the state's only offensive lineman with an offer from USC, originally planned to visit Oregon after The Opening but was unable to. And although he unselfishly narrowed his long list of suitors to allow schools to pursue other prospects, Falah said at the B2G Elite Camp two weeks ago that his recruitment likely wouldn't end, even with a commitment.

A pledge to USC would make Falah the 12th member of the Trojans' 2013 recruiting class, securing a tackle spot that offensive line coach James Cregg has been selective about offering. And, don't overlook the fact that it would give USC yet another win in the local recruiting battle with UCLA. The Trojans have already reached into their backyard to snag five-star safety Su'a Cravens (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta), four-star cornerback Chris Hawkins (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) and four-star receivers Steven Mitchell (Mission Hills, Calif./Alemany) and Sebastian LaRue (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica).

USC is also in the hunt for four-star guard Khaliel Rodgers (Elkton, Md./Eastern Christian Academy), and a commitment from Falah would probably speed up the process on other fronts.
