With West region quarterbacks continuing the trend of committing early, spots are disappearing left and right and schools are jumping in to grab signal-callers before the summer really gets going. One of the programs that could be closing in on landing their quarterback for the 2013 recruiting class is BYU, which offered a scholarship to Billy Green (Seattle/King's) on Thursday.
Green said BYU coaches visited him two weeks ago and head coach Bronco Mendenhall offered him a scholarship on Thursday, when Green was on the Provo, Utah campus for a visit. It is the first scholarship offer for the 6-foot-2, 196-pound quarterback, who said the Cougars head coach wanted him to get back home and discuss the offer with his family before making a decision on a commitment.
"We're going to talk it over this weekend and I might have a decision on Tuesday or Wednesday," Green said.
Green said many of the other schools he was in contact with have taken quarterbacks recently. Both Washington schools received verbal commitments from quarterbacks in the past two weeks, but BYU -- with 10 total commitments -- is still looking for a quarterback in this class.
