Arizona State kept one of the state's best prospects home on Wednesday, as three-star athlete Chans Cox (Lakeside, Ariz./Blue Ridge) committed to the Sun Devils after visiting the campus today according to his father, Jay Cox. Cox (6-foot-2, 225 pounds) -- the No. 5 player in Arizona -- had been thinking about committing to ASU for a couple of weeks before pulling the trigger today according to his father.
Cox, who boasts offers from USC, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Nebraska and Washington, among others, is slated to play middle linebacker for the Sun Devils, though he could be used on offense in limited amounts. He was being recruited as a fullback by several schools.
The commitment of Cox to ASU is a testament to new Sun Devils coach Todd Graham and his staff, as Cox had eliminated the Sun Devils this past winter. However, the new staff made an impression on Cox, building a relationship that led to Wednesday's commitment.
