There is little doubt that the main attraction at Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany this spring was wide receiver Steven Mitchell. The 5-foot-11, 176-pound wide receiver has 23 offers from programs across the country. But as college coaches visited the campus, they quickly found out what the rest of us are learning now. This Alemany team is loaded with skill position players.
For the second time in two weeks, the Warriors ended a Saturday afternoon with a passing tournament title, this time besting Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei in the finals of the Dana Hills Nike Airstrike.
Mitchell was instrumental, as he fought through thigh issues to make a game-winning catch in the semifinals and put his stamp on just about every game. He seemed to be taking it easy early on, as he warmed up for his showcase at USC's skills camp on Sunday, but he turned it on as the day progressed. And as was the case last weekend, contributions came from everywhere.
