Not many high school student have kept a schedule as demanding as the one Steven Mitchell has kept over the past few months. The standout wide receiver at Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany with nearly two dozen scholarship offers hasn't played favorites with colleges or coaches. That means, in addition to schoolwork, spring ball and 7-on-7 events, Mitchell has spent time every other night on the phone with each coaches from each of the 21 schools that have offered him a scholarship.
"I have a busy schedule," Mitchell said in a severe understatement.
But it's on the verge of lightening. With high school out for the summer, some of the wide receiver's responsibilities will shrink, and the same could be true for his list of contacts in the coming weeks, although Mitchell said it has nothing to do with trying to save himself the extra phone calls.
