Adams pulls recruiting shocker

Ishmael Adams (Westlake Village, Calif./Oaks Christian) made his college choice on Monday and it has to be considered one of the biggest recruiting surprises of the year.

“I just committed to UCLA,” Adams said. “I prayed about this decision really hard and made a pros and cons list for both schools. When I weighed everything against each other, UCLA came out on top. Academically, I like what UCLA offers, the proximity to home was important and the biggest thing was being able to be a part of changing a program around versus just being a part of a program.

“It was nothing against Cal. I liked them a lot and was set to announce for them at the Army game. I almost announced there at GridIron Kings in the summer but UCLA was always in my head. After the coaching change, I didn’t think much about UCLA, but I really like Coach Mora a lot and I like Demetrice Martin a lot as well. He’s a good coach, and I know he’ll make me better.”
