Upland (Calif.) wide out Kenny Lawler has made a few more tweaks to his school list and is now saying he plans to wait until signing day before making his decision.
Lawler, who has been turning heads at the California All-State game this week, said one school that reached out to him earlier this week is the school he was originally committed to.
“Coach [Mike] Norvell at Arizona State called me Tuesday,” Lawler said. “We had a good talk, and I’m putting Arizona State back on my list, but they’re probably 5th right now. My top five schools in order are Cal, Oregon State, Michigan State, UCLA and ASU.
“I’m going to wait until Signing Day to make my decision, and right now, I have no idea what’s going to happen. It’s a pretty confusing time with all the coaching changes. I still have some trips to take, and I’m going to be setting up visits in January with Cal, Oregon State and Michigan State.”
Lawler visited UCLA last Saturday but said he’s waiting to see who the Bruins bring in as a receiver coach. One name tossed around in recent week is Charlie Collins, former director of Phenom Factory and someone who has trained Lawler in the past. If Collins was hired, Lawler would likely be a strong Bruin lean.
