Offensive lineman Steven Moore (Elk Grove, Calif.) took his final official visit this past weekend to Cal and is hoping to make his college choice by the end of the week.
Moore previously has taken official visits to Boise State, Colorado and UCLA. The visit to Berkeley was close enough that Moore was able to drive to it.
“Yeah, Cal is just an hour-and-a-half away,” Moore said. “It was a good visit, a lot different than what I expected. I had a preconceived idea of what Berkeley was going to be like. I heard stories of it being a little different but it seemed like a normal college town to me and I really liked it there.
“The guys on the team were great with me and we had a lot of fun. Chris Adcock was my host but I hung out with a lot of the linemen and they were all real good guys, very funny. The facilities were the best I’ve seen and the 100 yard weight room was incredible. Academically, you can’t beat Cal, either. I want to major in criminal justice and you really can’t beat a degree from Cal and that’s huge for me.”
Moore said he enjoyed his time with the coaches and likes how he would fit in with the offense as well.
“I like Coach [Jeff] Tedford a lot and had a great time eating dinner at his place,” Moore said. “I spent a lot of time with Coach Michalczik, the offensive line coach, and he explained to me how I would fit with their offense. He said he likes tall, athletic tackles that can move, and that’s what I do best.
“Right now, the visit definitely made my decision a lot harder. I’m down to Cal, Boise State and UCLA, in no order, and I want to decide by the end of the week. I’ll take the next few days to talk about everything with my family, break things down and then decide what I should do.”
