Hawaii head coach Norm Chow is plenty familiar with recruiting the state of Utah, having spent more than 20 years on the staff at BYU. After signing three players from the state in the 2012 class, Chow received a commitment from his second Utah recruit in the 2013 class on Thursday.
Wide receiver Ammon Barker (Sandy, Utah/Alta) committed to UCLA in early November, but when he and the Bruins parted ways last week, the 6-foot-4, 210-pound wideout quickly found a new home. Barker took his list down to a final two of Hawaii and San Diego State, but made the call for the Warriors.
"I think Hawaii is a better fit for me," Barker said. "It'll be a good experience and it'll be awesome playing for Coach Chow."
As a senior, Barker caught 60 passes for 1,183 yards and 13 touchdowns. He is commitment No. 24 for Hawaii, and the fifth wide receiver to pledge to the Warriors' 2013 recruiting class.
