Steady rainfall forced ESPN Watch List linebacker Dwight Williams (Gardena, Calif./Serra) to leave UCLA's 38-28 victory against crosstown rival USC at halftime, but the Bruins had already made an impression on one of the top underclassmen in the Los Angeles area.
Williams, who last week added offers from Arizona State and Boise State to a list that already included Colorado, Oregon State and UCLA, has been a frequent visitor at the Coliseum this season. Despite seeing only the first half in person, Williams said UCLA helped its cause "a lot" on Saturday.
"It was raining hard. I recorded the game at home, though, and UCLA played amazing," the 6-foot-1, 200-pound Williams said. "I think a lot of players are going to look that way now. They just got two new commitments (Saturday) and that coaching staff over there knows exactly what to do and how to use their personnel. UCLA is going to be great."
Williams added that he will attend USC's regular-season finale against top-ranked Notre Dame at the Coliseum this week.
