It would have been tough for junior receiver Bryce Dixon (Ventura, Calif./St. Bonaventure) to get off to a much better start this season. The 6-foot-4, 228-pound wideout scored the first touchdown for the Seraphs this season, turning a short pass into a 43-yard score in a 48-0 blowout of Los Angeles Garfield. But Dixon was just getting started.
In one of the most anticipated matchups of the early season, St. Bonaventure knocked off Corona (Calif.) Centennial in a televised game this past weekend. The 40-35 victory was aided largely by Dixon, who caught seven passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns, which covered 18 and 95 yards.
“I practiced real hard for that,” Dixon said. “I’m just trying to put my name on the map.”
