Every high school football player wants to leave a lasting impression in their senior season, but running back Christopher Campbell (Lancaster, Calif./Paraclete) has some additional motivation. After transferring from Lancaster (Calif.) Quartz Hill, the 5-foot-10, 195-pound back was forced to sit out his junior season, leaving him with just this slate of games to make an impact on college coaches.
“I have to start from the ground up,” Campbell said. “Coaches say they like my size. I have to get my stats up and then contact them. We’ll see where it goes from there.”
Campbell attended camps this summer at Boise State, UC Davis and San Jose State, and is now hearing from Eastern Washington in addition to the Aggies and Spartans. He said he plans to put a highlight tape together after the season’s first month and then start talking to coaches about unofficial and official visits. West region programs such as Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah rank highly on Campbell’s list.
