Beavers grab a playmaker in Bolden

It wasn't that long ago that James Rodgers was creating mismatches and causing headaches for Oregon State opponents, and it might not be long before another player steps into that role for the Beavers. On Friday, head coach Mike Riley received a commitment from wide receiver Victor Bolden (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Los Osos), and the 5-foot-9, 160-pound athlete has a clear goal for what he wants to accomplish in Corvallis.

"They see me playing slot receiver as a James Rodgers-type player," Bolden said. "I remember watching him and his brother and they were good role models of mine. They said small players can still do their thing and I feel I can contribute like they did."

Bolden said the relationship with Oregon State began when the Beavers coaches visited him this past spring, then stepped up another level with Bolden attended an Oregon State camp held at Fullerton (Calif.) College several weeks ago. He earned an offer from the Beavers after his performance there, and late last week, Bolden had a chance to sit down with his family to discuss his options.
