It's going to be a very happy birthday for running back Craig Lee (Redlands, Calif./Redlands), as the 6-foot, 190-pound back said he would like to announce his college decision on that day, Aug. 15.
Lee said there is plenty of work that will go into that process between now and then, as he has yet to begin narrowing down his finalists. He is hearing from the entire Pac-12, with the exception of USC, as well as some schools in the SEC. He claims around 15 offers and said location won't matter in his college choice, though UCLA is thought to be a strong contender for his commitment.
From the beginning, Lee worked hard for an offer from USC, but with two running back commitments already and limited scholarships, it's likely that the No. 28 running back in the nation will make a different coaching staff very happy. Lee said college coaches have told him they like the breakaway speed he will be able to add to the program of his choice.
While he is wide open at this time, Lee said several factors will go into his decision.
"It's the people there, the coaching staff and the academic program," Lee said of his recruiting checklist. "I'm willing to go anywhere. It doesn't matter. It will come down to whatever school provides the best fit for me."
As a junior, the four-star tailback rushed for 1,534 yards and 15 touchdowns, including two touchdown runs in excess of 90 yards.
