Invitations to The Opening are still being delivered to players across the country, but here is a look at the recruits in the West region who have already received their invites to the showcase event in early July.
Thus far, 24 recruits from the West have been invited, representing Hawaii, Washington, California, Arizona and Utah. Every non-special teams position is represented.
The list starts with the quarterbacks, in the nation's No. 12 player Max Browne (Sammamish, Wash./Skyline) and No. 62 player Cooper Bateman (Salt Lake City/Cottonwood). Browne is committed to USC, while Bateman has pledged to Alabama.
At tailback Justin Davis (Stockton, Calif./Lincoln) will look to make an impact as the only running back representative from the West. The USC commit earned his invitation with a solid showing at the Oakland Nike Camp.
Four West receivers made the cut, as the No. 73 prospect Demorea Stringfellow (Moreno Valley, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga), USC commit and No. 142 player Steven Mitchell (Mission Hills, Calif./Alemany), No. 150 player Sebastian LaRue (Santa Monica, Calif./Santa Monica) and Darren Carrington (San Diego/Horizon) will all be in attendance.
Just one West tight end has been invited, but Ohio State commit Marcus Baugh (Riverside, Calif./J.W. North) is the No. 4 recruit at his position and the No. 14 player in the region.
The No. 267 player overall Cameron Hunt (Corona, Calif./Centennial), No. 288 Nico Falah (Bellflower, Calif./St. John Bosco) and four-star offensive tackle John Lopez (Orange, Calif./Lutheran) will make the trip north as the West offensive line contingent.
They'll likely find themselves matched up against the No. 57 player Eddie Vanderdoes (Auburn, Calif./Placer), No. 236 player Joe Mathis (Upland, Calif./Upland) and three-star athlete Elijah Qualls (Petaluma, Calif./Casa Grande).
The linebacker position will be represented by No. 59 recruit Michael Hutchings (Concord, Calif./De La Salle), No. 138 player and Stanford commit Isaac Savaiinaea (Honolulu/Punahou) and Kevin Palma (Tulare, Calif./Mission Oak).
It's a loaded year for defensive backs in the area and the early Opening roster proves that. Seven members of the secondary have been invited so far, including two pairs of teammates. Safety and No. 61 overall recruit Priest Willis (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos De Niza), USC commit and No. 71 player Chris Hawkins (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga), No. 95 player Tahaan Goodman (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga), four-star safety Hatari Byrd (Fresno, Calif./Central), four-star cornerback L.J. Moore (Fresno, Calif./Central), three-star safety Tyler Foreman (Encino, Calif./Crespi) and cornerback Kevin King (Oakland, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd).
