Brandon Beaver (Compton, Calif./Dominguez) planned a last minute visit to California over the weekend and said the Bears are now a major player in his recruitment.
Beaver has had an on-and-off relationship with Cal this past year. At different times, he seemed high on the Bears but also said it seemed like they were slow playing him a bit as well.
“We actually talked about that,” Beaver said. “They offered me early but then I stopped hearing from them. Then when Ish [Ishmael Adams] and Kevon Seymour went elsewhere, they started to recruit me again, so I felt like a backup option. They told me they didn’t think I was interested in them because I had canceled on coming up there for a few events they had three or four times.
