A few days ago, Arik Armstead (Elk Grove, Calif./Pleasant Grove) decommitted from USC. The idea was to open things up to see what other schools might jump in to the picture, who didn’t feel they had a realistic chance prior to the de-commitment.
It didn’t take long for schools to actively jump on Armstead, as three heavyweight programs have offered the lineman in the last 24 hours.
“Texas, Oregon and Oklahoma have all offered,” Gus Armstead, Arick's father said. “The one school that hasn’t offered yet that we’re still waiting on is LSU. Hopefully, they’ll come through, but this is exciting. It’s what we were looking for when Arik de-committed. The more options the better right now, so it’s all good.”
Armstead will take his first official visit to Notre Dame this weekend.
