Linebacker Matt Rowe (Long Beach Poly, Calif.) visited Arizona State over the weekend and said his longtime commitment to the Sun Devils is now solid.
“The thing for me was just how comfortable I felt there,” Rowe said. “I actually felt more comfortable there than I do here in Long Beach. I can’t really explain it, but it just felt like a home away from home and I love the direction the staff is taking the program. The staff is really impressive and I like what Coach Graham is bringing to the team.
“He’s about discipline and toughness. I can tell he’s a hard-minded guy and will bring some much needed structure to the team. The new players love him and said they have never worked so hard in the weight room. I like the defense a lot too and feel I fit in well. I’ll be an outside linebacker and play some rover as well in their 3-4 scheme so I like that a lot.”
Rowe had a visit set with Texas A&M next weekend, but said he will not be taking any more trips.
“To be honest, I have finals this week and not sure I could take it even if I wanted to,” Rowe said. “I’m solid though, I don’t need to take any more visits and I know ASU is the place for me. It’s crazy because when Coach Graham first got to ASU, I was over them, I thought for sure I would be going elsewhere. Now that I met everyone and checked things out, I can’t wait to get there.”
