Fresno (Calif.) Central is home to three of the top junior defensive backs in the region. On Monday, cornerback L.J Moore landed a scholarship offer from his childhood favorite.
Moore is on the ESPNU 150 Watch List and will be a national recruit by the spring. Arizona State was first to offer Moore followed by Eastern Michigan, Utah, Cal and UNLV.
“I just got offered by UCLA,” Moore said. “I was definitely very excited about this one. To be honest, it’s exciting any time I get an offer but UCLA is the school I grew up rooting for, I’ve always liked them so it meant a lot.
“I called up Coach [Demetrice] Martin, and he told me they were offering and he wants me to come up for a visit. I have a basketball game in Los Angeles in two weeks, so I might try and visit the school while I’m down there.”
As for making an early decision or going through the recruiting process, Moore said he’s in no hurry to commit anywhere.
“I want to play out the process a little bit,” Moore said. “I don’t want to rush in to anything before I’m 100 percent sure of what I want to do. I want to see what other schools come after me and then probably take some visits. Things could change but as of right now, that’s my plan.”
