SMU commit switches to UCLA

Offensive lineman Carl Hulick (Anaheim, Calif./Esperanza) has been an SMU commit since last August. Hulick took an official visit to UCLA over the weekend and decided to switch his commitment to the Bruins.

Hulick, a first team all-league and second team all-county lineman for the Aztecs, committed to the Mustangs largely due to his relationship with then SMU OL coach Adrian Klemm. When Klemm took the same position with UCLA, it always seemed like just a matter of time before the Bruins got involved and the lineman took an official visit this past weekend.

“I really liked it there, UCLA is just a great place,” Hulick said. “I called SMU on my way home and de-committed. I went to my football banquet and I was thinking about UCLA the whole time. At first I wanted to think about my decision a little more and even thought about visiting West Point, but I knew UCLA is where I would end up, so I decided to go ahead and end the recruiting process and committed. When I was speaking at our football banquet, I actually announced it there that I was going to UCLA.
