Arizona State hit the road Wednesday and made home visits with several prospects, including Long Beach Poly (Calif.) standouts Richard Smith, a receiver, and Matt Rowe, an outside linebacker.
Smith and Rowe are in a similar position in that both players are essentially down to the Sun Devils and UCLA, although Oregon State is making a late run at Smith. New Bruins running back coach Steve Broussard recruited both players to ASU when he was the Sun Devils receivers coach last year.
“Coach [Mike] Norvell and Coach [Delvaughn] Alexander came by for about two hours,” Smith said. “It was a great visit, and I really liked what they had to say. They didn’t just talk football. They talked about the family environment they’re trying to instill there. They talked a lot about academics and the kind of support I would get as far as tutoring.
