Stanford lands four star lineman

12/21/2011

Stanford could be putting together an offensive line class for the ages. The Cardinal landed another big commitment Tuesday night from Nick Davidson (Eden Prairie, Minn.).

Davidson, a four star prospect and rated the No. 3 player in the state, officially visited Stanford during the season and planned to take the rest of his official visits before making his decision.

“My plan was to do all my visits, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that no school could compare to Stanford,” Davidson said. “I didn’t want to waste anyone’s time when I knew Stanford was the place for me, so I called up coach Shaw last night and told him I was ready to commit.

“I’m really excited about this and feel Stanford is the perfect combination of academics and football. I had a great visit and felt really comfortable with all the players and coaches. The school has always been known for their academics but they’re now a top football program too so it’s the best of both worlds.”

Davidson said his other four visits were going to be to Ohio State, Oregon, Colorado and Clemson, but he’s not planning to take any other trips. Ironically both of Davidson’s parents went to Ohio State, but the lineman said they’re excited about his decision.

“They left it up to me, and Stanford was the best fit, so they’re excited,” Davidson said. “I want to major in engineering, and Stanford has a great program there. There were just so many pluses, and I couldn’t turn them down.”
