Raymond Ford (Gardena, Calif./Serra) took an official visit to Nebraska over the weekend and said the Huskers made a very good impression on him.
Ford, a soft UCLA commit, had previously visited Nebraska.
“It was great, I loved the atmosphere there,” Ford said. “They have a great coaching staff and I met a lot of great people there. The facilities are really nice, I liked the campus a lot and the guys on the team were really cool with me. Damien Stafford was my host and I already knew him a little because I have a cousin who played with him at Chaffey JC.
“We went out bowling last night and that was cool, we did recruits versus the hosts and we each won a game. My high score was 120 and I was glad to break 100. It was real cold there, about 25 degrees, but I think I could get used to it if I ended up choosing Nebraska. I’m in no hurry to decide though, I want to take some trips in January before making a final decision.”
Ford said he has a visit set with Utah (Jan. 13) and will likely take an unofficial visit to UCLA as well.
“Coach [Jim L.] Mora called me and wants to do a home visit as soon as the dead period is over,” Ford said. “I like Coach a lot, he’s a former NFL DB coach and a great defensive coordinator, so that’s a big plus for me. Coach [Rick] Neuheisel was cool too but I like that Mora is about defense and knows the game really well.
“I also like Coach Klemm a lot, he recruited me to SMU. Demetrice Martin, the new DB coach, was recruiting me at Washington so I’m feeling good about UCLA again and they’re back on top. I still want to take my time and check out some schools before committing anywhere.”
