Senior cornerback Adoree’ Jackson (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra) was presented his honorary game jersey Wednesday at his school during the American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2014 Under Armour All-America High School Football Game. The event was part of a three-month selection tour.
Jackson, who has made official visits to Oklahoma and LSU thus far, is one of 90 players selected to compete in the seventh annual Under Armour All-America Game, a nationally televised game featuring the country’s top high school seniors. The game is set for 4 p.m. ET Jan. 2 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., and will be televised on ESPN.
“First off, I want to thank my sister,” Jackson said. “I want to thank Coach Altenburg, Coach Dabbs, everybody, Coach Dunlap … it’s a blessing. Thank you guys for all you have done for me with my situation coming from Illinois. It’s a blessing to be here with you guys. I’m going to cherish all the memories here, and I want to say I love you all in the Serra community.”
For Jackson, accepting the invitation to the UA game was an easy one.
"I grew up watching the game as a little kid on ESPN, and I always said I wanted to go to the Under Armour All-America Game and play. When I got the invitation, it was a no-brainer for me to hurry up and accept it," Jackson said.
"Just meeting the current players, the all-stars in the league, and to be coached up by some of the best ... and then to meet with some of the former All-Americans that are going to be there. It’s a blessing to know that those people who have done the same thing in high school and taken the same steps, I could one day, too.” Jackson said.
The 5-foot-10, 182-pound Jackson is the No. 6 prospect in the ESPN 300 and the No. 2 cornerback in the class. He is considering Tennessee, Florida State, UCLA, USC and Florida, along with the Sooners and Tigers.
