Earlier this week, what had been speculated for months finally came to fruition when wide out Jaydon Mickens (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey) and USC parted ways. It appeared to be a mutual decision and now the athlete has a list of six schools he’s sorting through.
Mickens committed early to USC but said he always wanted to take his official visits. There was always talk that the Trojans weren’t recruiting him very hard during the year and wanted to get that scholarship back, although Mickens maintained they talked once a week during the season.
“Coach [Kennedy] Polamalu came in for a home visit this week and we decided to go our separate ways,” Mickens said. “It was a tough decision but it’s for the best. I’m going to take the rest of my visits and then make my decision around signing day.
“I’ve already been to Washington already and was planning to visit Arizona State but the coaching change messed that up. I’m visiting Cal next week (Dec. 16) and also set a visit to Oregon for (Jan. 20) and Hawaii will be (Jan. 27). I’m also still looking at SMU as well. I had home visits this week with Washington, Oregon, Cal and Hawaii plus USC so it has been a very busy week for sure.”
