Orange Lutheran (Calif.) tight end Christo Kourtzidis will take his first official visit this weekend and also set up one with Florida State, where he has been committed since the summer.
Kourtzidis had a solid senior season and is among the top tight ends out West. He’s a big kid with strong hands and improving athleticism.
“We did all right, I really thought we had the kind of team to win a state title though,” Kourtzidis said. “So from that standpoint, I’m disappointed. When you have as high of expectations as I did coming in to the year and then to not even make the playoffs, it was definitely disappointing.”
Although committed to the 'Noles, Kourtzidis will hit the recruiting trail this weekend and visit Cal.
“Cal was my second choice after FSU,” Kourtzidis said. “I wanted to take another and I know a lot of people visiting Cal this weekend so it should be fun. It’s a good school and I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes.
“I’m also going to Florida State (Jan. 13). I’m playing basketball right now so I had to wait a while before I could set that one to see what our schedule is like but that weekend will work. I’m still a solid commitment to FSU and I really like the direction the program is going. We had so much injuries this year and that hurt but next year, I think they’ll definitely have things rolling.”
