Four-star linebacker Corey Vereen (Winter Garden, Fla./West Orange) said he would remain solidly committed to Tennessee regardless of who the next head coach was.
And now that Tennessee has announced the hiring of Butch Jones from Cincinnati, the 6-foot-2, 235-pound linebacker is just happy it’s over.
“I trust Dave Hart and the administration, so I was going to be happy with whatever decision they made,” Vereen explained. “I’m excited to meet coach Jones, and I’ve heard a lot of good things. He wants to bring Tennessee back to the glory days, and I’m all in with him.”
Vereen said the remaining Tennessee coaching staff has been in contact with him during the search process. He will be enrolling at the school in January.
“Coach [George] Henshaw checked in on me to make sure I was still committed, and of course I still am,” Vereen said. “I’m looking forward to playing in Volunteer orange.”
