ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- It has only been a few weeks since Chad Thomas (Miami/Booker T. Washington) and his teammates were crowned state champions, but he's already added a major offer.
Big East and Sugar Bowl champions Louisville have entered the picture, but the ESPN Watch List defensive end still has the familiar three on top.
"Since the offseason, I really have only gotten one from Louisville," he said. "I just have my top three right now with Miami, LSU and Florida State.

Florida State's victory over arch-rival Miami was witnessed by some high-caliber recruits two weeks ago. Arguably, the Booker T. Washington group consisting of Matthew Thomas, Denver Kirkland, Treon Harris and Nigel Patten were the most important.
Patten, an offered junior defensive back, relished seeing two of his favorite teams go head to head in a physical bout.
"I thought it was great," he said. "It was a hard-fought game. Miami manned up to the competition. Florida State, with all the good recruiting classes, I feel like they were able to do what they did. It probably should have been a blowout."

With several programs in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade counties playing games it will be a case of wait-and-see on Thursday night, as Miami hosts Virginia Tech in a game which could decide the ACC Coastal Division.
With Miami Christopher Columbus on a bye there’s a good chance the running back tandem of Daryl Chestnut and Lorenzo Woodley will be in the house Thursday. Woodley said Miami has been reaching out to him more in recent weeks. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound senior doesn’t have an offer but does like the hometown school.
“I like Miami because they are the home team,” Woodley said. “But they have some backs committed in this class so we’ll see.”

Miami's biggest visit weekend took place Saturday as the hometown Hurricanes hosted No. 14 Florida State in one of the state's top rivalries.
Treon Harris (Miami/Booker T. Washington) was in attendance with several of his top-ranked teammates to see the state rivals go at it. From his neutral perspective, it was an enjoyable time.
"I was real excited watching the game,” he said. “Saw Florida State come out with the victory. I loved the experience."

One week in the books for Florida High School football this year, 14 more to go.
Gators run Team Tampa: During the offseason Team Tampa became the talk of the national 7-on-7 circuit. A solid mix of ESPN 150 prospects such as Vernon Hargreaves III (Tampa, Fla./Wharton), Leon McQuay III (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) and Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood) and under-the-radar recruits like wide receiver Zach Benjamin (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Catholic) and linebacker Isaac Tanner (Tampa, Fla./Freedom), Team Tampa proved to be the kings of touch football this spring.
So it's no shock that several members of the team will be playing together at the next level. For a while it looked like UCF had an exclusive pipeline to the team. First quarterback Pete DiNovo (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake) committed to the Knights a couple days after the IMG National 7-on-7 tournament. He was joined (for a while) by ESPN 300 wide receiver Richard Benjamin (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Bay Techinical) and twin brothers Shaquem and Shaquill Griffin (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood).

Dual-threat quarterback Treon Harris (Miami, Fla./Booker T. Washington) won't settle for anything less than a championship this season.
Falling just short a season ago to Jacksonville (Fla.) Bolles in the state championship has left a bitter taste on all of the Tornadoes' tongues. And all that hard work in the offseason is about to be put to use as Harris and his teammates get the new season going this week.
"We are working hard and competing good," said the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Harris.

With the 7th annual Heath Evans tournament in the rear view mirror, it's time to see who stood out and clear out the notebook.
Stacy Coley, WR (Oakland Park, Fla./Northeast): The 2013 Under Armour All-American was clearly the best player in the event. Whenever Coley wants to make the big play there's no defensive back in the state that can stop him. He is still working on his consistently but he has a ton of ability and a high ceiling.
Vernon Hargreaves III, DB (Tampa, Fla./Wharton): Hargreaves played safety Saturday and for good reason -- he wanted to be involved in the action. On the down side he didn't have the one-on-one battles I hoped to see but he did force teams to throw in his general direction and manned the defensive backfield beautifully.

Showdown in the Glades
From the minute the new classifications were set in the spring there were talks of several dream postseason matchups. One of them was a third-round matchup between Norland (Miami, Fla.) and Glades Central (Belle Glade, Fla.).
Both teams are nationally ranked and come into Friday's contest with 12-0 records. Norland features 2012 Under Armour All-American Randy “Duke” Johnson, who is expected to be one of the top candidates for Florida's Mr. Football award.
