Florida State is making its presence felt in middle Tennessee.

First, the Seminoles landed four-star cornerback Jalen Ramsey from Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy, stealing him from USC on national signing day. Now, thanks, in part, to Ramsey's signing, the Noles could be close to landing two more highly regarded prospects from the Nashville area.

Bold Prediction for the SEC:

Ole Miss' class will eventually be ranked in the top five nationally with the addition of No. 1 overall prospect Robert Nkemdiche from Loganville (Ga.) Grayson and possibly ESPN 150 prospects Chris Jones from Houston (Miss.) High and Antonio Conner from Batesville (Miss.) South Panola.

SEC East

Florida
Biggest need: Florida wants immediate help at defensive tackle. Jarran Reed from Scooba (Miss.) East should be able to provide that if he decides to sign with the Gators on national signing day.
Biggest recruit: The Gators have two five-star commitments: cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III from Tampa (Fla.) Wharton and running back Kelvin Taylor from Belle Glade (Fla.) Glades. No other school in the country can say that.

Georgia
Biggest need: The Bulldogs would like to pick up another top offensive lineman. They looked destined to land Laremy Tunsil from Lake City (Fla.), but the competition has heated up for him lately.
Biggest recruit: With 12 ESPN 300 commitments, Georgia has plenty of star power. However, it's impossible to overvalue the commitment of Brice Ramsey from Kingsland (Ga.) Camden, a quarterback the Bulldogs can build around.

ESPN 300 RB Elder nets another big offer

ESPN 300 running back Cornelius "Corn" Elder (Nashville, Tenn./Ensworth) has another scholarship offer to consider.

Elder said today he received a scholarship offer this week from Auburn. To get Elder's commitment, the Tigers and new coach Gus Malzahn have some serious work to do.

Elder hasn't presented a list of finalists among the many schools that have offered him a scholarship, but clearly some have worked their way to the top. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound prospect took an official visit to UCLA in November and plans to take an official visit to Ohio State in January.

The No. 2 prospect in Tennessee and No. 204 prospect in the country has already visited Ohio State once. He has also spoken highly of a visit to Georgia Tech and is also considering nearby Vanderbilt. Elder could play several positions in college, including slot receiver, running back or defensive back.

"I'm not sure," the four-star prospect from Nashville (Tenn.) Ensworth said when asked when he might name a list of finalists. "Just taking it day by day."

Elder's last visit to a college came on Nov. 16, when he travelled to Los Angeles to see UCLA beat USC 38-28. Elder came away impressed.

This weekend figures to be big for UCLA as it tries to establish a recruiting presence in Tennessee.

Three of the top prospects from the Volunteer State will travel to Los Angeles to see the Bruins host archrival USC on Saturday. One is already committed, another has said he is close to doing so, while the last could be swayed by the Bruins' storied basketball tradition.

Offensive tackle Christian Morris from Memphis (Tenn.) East committed to UCLA in July. Since then he has been pursued by many other tradition-rich schools, namely Nebraska, to which he took an official visit in September.

"I just want to get to know the coaches and see the campus and the atmosphere," the ESPN 300 prospect from Nashville Ensworth told ESPN via text message.

Elder is listed as a running back but could play a number of positions. That would make him an interesting pick-up for the Buckeyes.

Nearby Vanderbilt might soon have another chance to impress ESPN 300 athlete prospect Cornelius "Corn" Elder, who said he is considering visiting the Commodores' campus for the Florida game Saturday.

The four-star prospect said Vandy is recruiting him as a running back. Schools have often differed on where he would best fit in college. Slot receiver and defensive back have also been discussed.

When asked about running a Wildcat package in college, he said, "Haven't really thought about it but wouldn't mind it."

Elder played a bit at quarterback as a freshman before moving to running back full-time. He added that Florida has not been recruiting him.
