Sunday, ESPN 150 cornerback Shaq Wiggins (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek) returned from an official visit to South Carolina. Later that evening he received a call from Mark Richt. The Georgia head coach asked if he should be worried about Wiggins changing his commitment from Georgia to the Gamecocks. Wiggins told Richt no, but that he still planned to take visits to Florida and Texas A&M.

ATHENS, Ga. -- All-American safety Bacarri Rambo went out in style during his last game at Sanford Stadium. The senior had two forced fumbles, returned the second fumble 49 yards, returned an interception for 27 yards and racked up eight tackles. After all that, Rambo turned to a visiting prospect and charged Tray Matthews (Newnan, Ga./Newnan) with continuing his legacy.
“After the game he walked up to me and was like, ‘Man, it is your time now. I am kind of a great player in the fans' eyes, but I am passing the baton to you and I want you to lead this defense and lead this team to another SEC championship,' ” Matthews said. “I have some big shoes to fill.”
The ESPN 150 safety is committed to Georgia and knows that the Bulldogs are losing a number of players on defense next season. Matthews has been trying for more than a year to convince his best friend, top inside linebacker Reuben Foster (Auburn, Ala./Auburn), to join him at Georgia.

With Tuesday’s addition of ESPN 300 athlete Brendan Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell) to the commitment list, Georgia has secured its top target at cornerback for the 2013 class. It has been a battle since the spring for the 6-foot-1, 186-pound prospect, with programs like Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee all fighting for Langley. Getting Langley was a priority for the Bulldogs’ coaching staff, who heavily pursued the four-star recruit even after he committed to the Gamecocks.
With his size and athletic ability, Langley should be able to come in and help Georgia in several ways. He is a playmaker with the ball in his hands, and has made just as big of an impact on offense at Kell this season as he has on defense. That could continue in Athens.
Langley was sold early on being utilized in a similar manner to former Georgia standout Brandon Boykin, and that would be a smooth transition for the two-way standout. With only three scholarship cornerbacks returning and a void in the return game, Langley has a chance to contribute next fall.

Exactly one week after losing juco cornerback Steven Nelson (Warner Robins, Ga./College of Sequoias), the University of Georgia replaced him on the commitment list by pulling off a switch with ESPN 300 athlete Brendan Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell). The 6-foot-1, 186-pound prospect had been verbally committed to South Carolina since August, but took four trips to Athens during the three months that followed. Langley announced today that he has decided to flip to the Bulldogs.
A month after he committed to South Carolina, Georgia was able to get Langley on campus two weeks in a row, where two different coaching staffs let him know he would have a chance to play in Athens. Head basketball coach Mark Fox informed Langley that he would have an opportunity to contribute to the hoops team as well, something the Gamecocks did not discuss seriously.

Tom Hauck/ESPNHSCB Brendan Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell) says friend and teammate Quincy Mauger never stopped recruiting him to join him as a UGA commit.
"I just felt more comfortable at Georgia."
He received his first two scholarship offers from Georgia and South Carolina back on Valentine’s Day. The Georgia coaching staff told Langley throughout the 2013 recruiting cycle that he has been their top target on the board at cornerback. The Bulldogs led with the athlete for much of the spring before some miscommunication dropped them further down the list. Nevertheless, Georgia didn’t let up its pursuit, even after his commitment to the Gamecocks.
Langley told DawgNation that he had silently committed to Georgia last Thursday. On Tuesday, it became public news.
He added: "I am pretty sure people already saw it coming."
Teammate and safety Quincy Mauger has been selling Langley on joining him in Athens since Mauger himself committed to Georgia in July.
“He is pushing me pretty hard, but he knows the whole situation, so he is supportive of anything I choose,” Langley said after his third visit to Georgia on Nov. 3. “Basically -- and I kind of like it -- he tells me I have to do what is right for me and that I will be successful wherever I go. Then why not be successful with your best friend?”
The chance to join several other commitments he had grown close to, an opportunity to make an early impact on both sides of the ball, and the allure of playing for his childhood favorite in-state program proved too much for Langley to dismiss. His addition gives the Bulldogs a secondary class that includes two ESPN 150 prospects and two ESPN 300 prospects.
With ESPN 150 cornerback Shaq Wiggins (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek), ESPN 300 athlete Reggie Wilkerson (Citra, Fla./North Marion) and Langley, Georgia now has three cornerback commitments rated as four-star prospects. Langley has the size that secondary coach Scott Lakatos has coveted since he came to Georgia, and gives the Bulldogs 28 commitments overall for the 2013 class.
The University of Georgia is recruiting some of the top prospects in the country, and DawgNation takes a look at 10 targets and prospects that had standout performances on the field last week.
Derrick Henry, ATH (Yulee, Fla./Yulee) – The ESPN 150 prospect had 42 carries for 502 yards and six touchdowns in a 45-28 win over Jacksonville (Fla.) Andrew Jackson, breaking the single-game record for rushing yardage in the state of Florida. Henry also passed Emmitt Smith (8,804) for 2nd in career yards in Florida with 9,255. Henry now has 38 straight games with 100 yards rushing or more, one shy of the national record set by 2012 ESPN 150 prospect Rushell Shell, now at Pitt.
Brendan Langley, ATH (Marietta, Ga./Kell) - The ESPN 300 prospect had seven catches for 104 yards, three interceptions, 97 return yards, two touchdowns and a blocked extra point in a 33-29 win over Creekview.

For the second weekend in a row, ESPN 300 prospect Brendan Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell) was in Athens on an unofficial visit. Just like his last trip revealed, Langley was now being courted by two coaching staffs at Georgia.
The basketball coaches got first crack at impressing the two-sport athlete on Saturday.
“This trip was very similar to a football visit but of course it was focusing on what life would be like if I played basketball too,” Langley said. “I got a chance to see all of the facilities and I really liked Stegman Coliseum. I spent some time with Coach Mark Fox and Coach Philip Pearson. I did not get to go into too much depth because they had another guy there on an official visit for basketball.”

Five months ago, the University of Georgia took the lead for its top cornerback target, ESPN 300 prospect Brendan Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell). The lead was short-lived, as one month later Langley had a new top three of Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee after a “misunderstanding” with the Georgia staff. Three months later the 6-foot-1, 185-pound athlete committed to South Carolina.
Last weekend, the Bulldogs had Langley back on campus, along with his teammate and Georgia defensive back commitment Quincy Mauger (Marietta, Ga./Kell). It started off like any other unofficial visit, with time spent with the coaching staff.
“I talked to Coach Mike Bobo, Coach Todd Grantham and Coach Mark Richt, and they told me how bad they want me, how they could use me, and not to worry about the number of corners we have committed,” Langley said.

Both Alabama and Georgia once led for Kell, Ga., defensive back Brendan Langley, but in the end, the ESPN 300 star chose South Carolina, making a commitment to the Gamecocks on Wednesday.
“After a lot of thought and prayer, I'm more than proud to accept a scholarship offer from the University of South Carolina,” Langley said in a statement. “The SEC is the best conference in college football. South Carolina is a beautiful state.
“The university is an SEC monster as well as a national contender, and I can't wait to help them reach another SEC title and even a national title. I can't wait to play for a coach with such experience and control as Coach [Steve] Spurrier.”

Dawg Night got off to a quick start for the University of Georgia on Friday when Marietta, Ga./Kell High School defensive back Quincy Mauger committed to the Bulldogs. Nobody may have been happier for Mauger than his best friend and teammate Brendan Langley.
“I was really proud of him,” Langley said. “He came a long way with me and really with everything he’s been working on. He’s been working real hard. He earned the offer, and he’s taking advantage of it.”
Langley also attended Dawg Night with his teammate, but the ESPN 300 cornerback didn’t participate in drills. He has Georgia in his top five along with Alabama, South Carolina, UCLA and Tennessee.

Dawg Night got started with a bang.
University of Georgia head coach Mark Richt got great news Friday with commitment No. 20 for the 2013 class. Interestingly enough, it was the second time he had received the news that Quincy Mauger (Marietta, Ga./Kell) wanted to play for him.
Last month, the 6-foot, 200-pound safety competed at the Mark Richt Camp, earning an offer from the Bulldogs. A few days later, he knew he needed to secure his spot at Georgia.

It was his third visit since receiving an offer from the University of Georgia, but for defensive back Brendan Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell) the G-Day spring scrimmage showcased some different aspects of the Bulldogs’ program.
“The spring game was everything I expected, but it was actually more intense than I thought,” Langley said. “I really like the way Coach [Todd] Grantham runs his defense and his attention to detail. It is a game of inches, so his attention to detail is important. The coaches also pointed out how Branden Smith was lined up on offense in the spring game, and they pointed out that it could be me in a few years.”
Georgia recently took the lead for prospect ranked at No. 84 in the nation, and his feelings have not changed since his time last weekend in Athens.

Although he was already considered one of the top cornerbacks in the Southeast, Brendan Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell) did not hesitate to show up at the Atlanta Nike Combine Sunday ready to compete. The 6-foot-1, 181-pound defensive back ran an electronic 4.61 40-yard dash, a 4.61 shuttle, a 36.3-inch vertical jump, and threw the power ball 36 feet -- for an impressive 103.71 SPARQ rating. Langley was not disappointed with his performance, but he was not quite satisfied either.
"I feel that I did above average, but I think it could go up," Langley said.
With all nine of his current offers coming from the SEC, chances are he will be playing his football in the Southeastern Conference next year. At the moment, Langley says Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt are standing out, but a few programs are trying to make a push for the ESPNU 150 Watch List cornerback.

The University of Georgia is hoping to lock down a stellar defensive back class in the 2013 recruiting cycle, and with only four cornerbacks and four safeties set to return after this year, whomever the Bulldogs sign will have to be ready to play immediately. That is exactly what the coaches told Brendan Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell) during his time Saturday in Athens for Very Important Dawg Day.

Very quietly, Kell head coach Derek Cook has transformed the Kell Longhorns football program into one of the best programs in Georgia. With a 35-12 record in the last four years, including their first region championship in 2010, they are a team to be reckoned with in the AAAA class. But coming into a season opener at the Corky Kell Classic versus eventual AAAAA state champion Grayson, Cook was faced with a lot of question marks on defense.
“We only returned four starters on defense, and Brendan had never played cornerback before,” Cook said of standout athlete Brendan Langley. “He did a great job covering No. 6 and No. 4 for Grayson, and that was when we knew we would be all right on defense.”
In his first year on defense, Langley (Marietta, Ga./Kell) made 60 tackles, six interceptions, five pass break-ups and two fumble recoveries. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound rising senior credits former Kell standout Brian Randolph, a 2011 Tennessee signee and SEC All-Freshmen selection, with helping him make the transition.
