Mizzou junior day next for Harrison
By Damon Sayles
Wide receiver Monte Harrison (Lee’s Summit, Mo./Lee’s Summit West) has either offers or high interest in three sports. While he’s equally talented in basketball and football, Harrison’s athletic ticket to college might be on the football field.
He still has time to make a decision, but in the meantime, the 6-foot-4, 195-pound athlete will take in junior days and get ready for the spring and summer seasons. Harrison will attend Missouri’s junior day this weekend.
Harrison picked up a Missouri offer in October and he’s already been to Columbia, Mo., for an unofficial visit. He was offered by Missouri receivers coach Andy Hill and has the Tigers high on his recruiting list.
“I pretty much already know everything [about Missouri],” Harrison said. “I just want to see it all again and look for the little things.”
Harrison also has offers from Nebraska and Kansas, and he visited Nebraska for a junior day last month. Most recently, Harrison traveled to Kansas for a junior day two weekends ago. Harrison had been to Lawrence, Kan., for a baseball visit, but it was his first football visit.
“It was nice. They have pretty nice facilities,” Harrison said of Kansas. “I got to talk to most of the coaches, and they were really nice. They were saying I would be a great contributor and that I’d fit right in.”
All three schools have offered Harrison for football. Arkansas has offered Harrison a baseball scholarship. In addition to being a rising star receiver, he’s also a standout center fielder for the Lee’s Summit West baseball team and a contributor on the wing for the Titans’ basketball team.
In football, Harrison has garnered looks from Alabama, Oklahoma, Iowa and Illinois, among others.
