2014 Peach State LB Dukes visits Auburn
By Greg Ostendorf
AUBURN, Ala. -- ESPN Watch List star Elisha Shaw wasn’t the only Tucker (Ga.) High School prospect to visit Auburn on Monday. He was joined by his teammate, 2014 linebacker Detric Dukes, who received an offer from the Tigers last week.
“It was a great experience,” Dukes said. “I’ve been over here once. Every time I come up here, I like it more and more. It feels more like home.”
The 6-foot-1, 225-pound junior met with a number of the new Auburn coaches, including head coach Gus Malzahn and assistant coaches Dameyune Craig and Rodney Garner.
“It was great,” Dukes said. “They explained to me the scheme, what I’d be playing. They really showed that they were into me, and they really like how I play.”
Dukes also holds offers from Connecticut, Indiana and Syracuse, but it’s Auburn, Louisville and Vanderbilt who make up his early top three. He plans to visit the two latter schools this weekend, beginning with Vandy on Friday.
