Super soph OLB plans busy visit schedule

By Corey Dowlar

Put Sherrod Pittman (Jacksonville, Fla./First Coast) in the same group as the rest of the super sophomores.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound linebacker already has a boatload of offers from some of the biggest schools, including Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, Ohio State, Mississippi, South Carolina, UCF, USF, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.

Pittman can't even believe it, sometimes.

"I am very excited and blessed," he said. "I am kind of shocked about all these schools.

"Every program that offers me, I want to get to know and like. I want to go visit and talk to the coaching staff."

In the next month, Pittman will visit both Florida State and North Carolina for their respective junior days.

The Seminoles, though, have been there from the start as one of the first programs to offer him.

"Florida State and UCF were the first two to offer me," he said. "I like Florida State. They come down to the school mostly every week. I see them all the time. I really like that program."

Looking to this summer, Pittman will cover just about every corner of the state. Just about every program will get a look, whether it be for a camp of just an unofficial visit.

"I am definitely going to Florida State's camp, and Florida's," said Pittman. "I really want to visit Miami and USF."

Don't look for a decision anytime soon. Pittman is going to take his relative time.

He will, though, join the tendency of recruits to announce before their senior season.

"Probably at the end of my junior year," said Pittman.

Miami and Pittsburgh are Pittman's most recent offers.
