Three-star RB renews original pledge
Three-star Matt Dayes (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) had been committed since last summer, but in December he decided to look around a bit.
On Wednesday night, he removed any doubt that his future.
Dayes committed to NC State in June and visited the Wolfpack on the weekend of Oct. 5. After reopening his commitment last month, however, he visited in-state programs UCF (Jan. 11) and USF (Jan. 18), and, most recently, Vanderbilt.
"My mind said Vanderbilt but my heart was telling me North Carolina State," Dayes said Wednesday via Twitter. "Went with my heart. #Wolfpack #wpn"
Multiple sources confirmed his re-commitment.
Boston College, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Memphis, Rutgers, Wake Forest and Western Kentucky also extended scholarship offers to the 5-foot-8, 193-pound senior.
ESPN describes Dayes as, "a solid running back prospect with good quickness and wiggle for back with his thickness and power. He won't wow you in one particular facet but the whole body of work is good ... Has experience as a pass catcher, is developing as a blocker, and could be an under the radar every-down running back prospect."
