UCF lands commitment from LB Burkett
By Greg Ostendorf
Montgomery, Ala., linebacker Chequan Burkett committed to Central Florida on Wednesday following his official visit. He also had offers from Arkansas State, Kentucky, Southern Miss and Vanderbilt.
“I like the coaching staff, the facilities and the campus life,” Burkett said. “My visit went well. I hung out with Coach [Lorenzo] Constantini. We just chilled and talked about everything.”
Following his visit, the UCF staff made an in-home visit with Burkett on Tuesday, only that he wasn’t there. The coaches wanted to meet with his mom and dad, and once they gave the go-ahead, he called the coaches and committed.
Auburn had shown recent interest in Burkett, but when they added three-star safety Khari Harding on Sunday, they backed off the in-state prospect.
