Bulls pick up 3-star LB Harris
By Derek Tyson
Three-star linebacker Nigel Harris (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough) verbally committed to USF on Wednesday evening. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound athlete chose the Bulls after taking a weekend visit to Wake Forest.
Harris said he chose South Florida because of his comfort level with the new coaching staff.
"I just got off the phone with coach [Ray] Woodie and coach [Willie] Taggart, and I told them I was going to be a Bull," Harris said. "They have a great coaching staff, and I can relate to them very well as a player."
In addition to his relationship with the coaching staff, Harris said there were other things that attracted him to USF.
"They have great resources around the campus that can help me as a football player and as a person," he said. "They have great facilities, and they have an engineering program, which I want to major in. I got along great with the players when I went on my visit. That was a big thing, because I want to feel comfortable with guys I'm playing with."
So what kind of player can USF fans expect from Harris?
"Oh man," Harris laughed, "fast, fierce and fearless is how I play."
USF now has 22 commits, including 18 that are ranked three-stars or higher.
