Three-star OL Christopher Flaig commits

By Corey Dowlar

When Mario Cristobal was removed from his position at Florida International, Christopher Flaig (Vero Beach, Fla./St. Edwards) was left to wonder what was next.

But as it would turn out, his future wasn't that far from where he thought it was.

New head coach Ron Turner had some convincing to do. And apparently he was successful.

"I truly feel at home there and it offers everything I want to pursue in life, both football and business," Flaig said. "I committed there when Cristobal was head coach, but upon his unexpected release, my commitment didn't have much weight with there being no coach at all. I took other visits to other colleges and I still liked FIU the most. When Coach Turner was hired, he contacted me and let me know there was a spot on his team for me.

"I took an official last weekend and knew I already loved the college itself. I am going to study international business and Chinese. By the end of the weekend, I felt comfortable with Coach Turner and his staff and made my commitment today."

The 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive lineman chose FIU over FAU and Memphis. ESPN ranks him as a three-star prospect.
