Michigan OL commit relocates
By Tom VanHaaren
Offensive lineman Denzel Ward has transferred from Hales-Franciscan High School in Chicago to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. The 2014 Michigan commit said in a text message that he made the move Sunday.
"Their setup is great," Ward said of IMG Academy. "I get to go to school for half the day and then train the other half.
"Our head coach, Coach [Chris] Weinke is a former Heisman winner, so I'll learn so much since I'm a fast learner. I get to have spring practices and get away from the huge violence in Chicago."
Ward played his first season of football this past season, so it's no surprise that he took the opportunity to gain more experience and technique work. Despite his inexperience, Ward has received a lot of interest from other programs because of his potential.
As he has recently received offers from Ohio State and Florida, the move will likely help Ward gain still more exposure and eventually more offers, despite his commitment to the Wolverines.
