The defensive end from Houston (Miss.) told ESPN via text message that he will take an official visit to Auburn on Feb. 1. The ESPN 150 prospect has been committed to Mississippi State since June but has also been considering Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss.
He's maintained he's firmly committed to Mississippi State, where he took his official visit last weekend. As for Auburn, he's got a lot to learn about the Tigers.
"I don't really know too much about them," Jones said.
The defensive end was largely unknown until he committed to Mississippi State. By the time the 6-foot-6, 260-pound prospect finished his senior season and was a standout during the practices leading up to the Under Armour All-America, college recruiters across the South were well aware of Jones.
He is now rated the No. 46 prospect in the country, the No. 6 defensive end prospect in the nation and the No. 2 prospect in Mississippi. Jones had 73 tackles and 18 sacks last season. He is rated the No. 6 defensive end in the nation. He is State's highest-rated commitment in its 22-member class.
Jones is the highest rated member of State's 22-man signing class and the only ESPN 150 prospect on board. The Bulldogs have three ESPN 300 commitments and eight four-star prospects committed.
