Four-star offensive tackle is SEC-bound
By Dave Hooker
Pomfret (Md.) McDonough offensive tackle Na’Ty Rodgers was originally scheduled to make a decision at the Under Armour All-America Game, and most expected the decision to come between South Carolina and Maryland.
However, when it came time to announce at the game, he wasn’t quite ready. But now he is.
The 6-foot-4, 285-pound tackle announced on Facebook this afternoon that he had committed to South Carolina. His mother, Nana Bailey, confirmed the decision.
“He’s done,” Bailey said. “He’s going to shut it down.”
Rodgers ranks as the No. 25 offensive tackle in the nation and the No. 9 player in Maryland. He also visited Oklahoma, Washington and was scheduledto visit Florida State this weekend.
Rodgers said early on the Gamecocks were making a big push and the pull to Columbia, S.C., would be difficult to ignore.
“I like the atmosphere at South Carolina,” Rodgers said. “Regardless of where you are from, it just draws you in because it is a good town with a great coaching staff.”
