Three SEC powers contact 2014 OT
By Radi Nabulsi
Offensive tackle Christian Harris (Suwanee, Ga./Collins Hill) is on the verge of being one of the top names in Georgia for the Class of 2014. He has an offer from Ohio, but the way he tells it, there could be more are on the way.
And the next one could be from the Georgia Bulldogs.
“UGA said they should be offering me in the next year or so,” Harris recently said. “It is a good environment. My parents raised me to love the Dawgs. It is kind of sticking on me and it might be in my future.”
Alabama and LSU also have taken an interest in the 6-foot-6, 265-pound junior.
“Kirby Smart came by my school, talked to me and said he wants me to come by for a junior day,” Harris said of the Tide's defensive coordinator. “Everybody knows who Kirby Smart is. I met him and I didn’t know if it was really happening. They said they were interested in me and I was shocked. They played in the national championship and have always been like a No. 1, No. 2, No. 3 team -- always been highly ranked. They have a good program.”
LSU has always recruited well in Georgia, and the Tigers coaching staff also has Harris on its radar.
“Frank Wilson from LSU has been urging me to come to a junior day,” Harris said. “All three teams have always been high-tier teams -- good rankings, good players -- and that is what I am looking for.”
Harris’ parents may want to keep him close to home considering how much they like the Bulldogs.
“They love them to death,” Harris said. “They live and die by them.”
